Azamgarh: A journalist met with the district Superintendent of Police to report police misconduct and demanded the immediate removal of the guilty inspector.

Azamgarh. Another case of police misconduct against a journalist has surfaced in the Rani Ki Sarai police station area. It is alleged that police officers mistreated a journalist who had arrived to cover a report on illegal land grabbing.According to reports, Shiv Prakash Chaturvedi, Bureau Chief of Perfect Mission newspaper, was called to the scene after receiving information about the land grabbing. While Chaturvedi arrived at the scene and was filming, Inspector Sunil Yadav, posted at the Rani Ki Sarai police station, allegedly snatched his mobile phone, hurled profanity at him, and threatened to “put him out of journalism.” Despite intervention from onlookers, the inspector continued to use abusive language.The victimized journalist claims that he immediately reported the incident to Superintendent of Police Dr. Anil Kumar, but no concrete action was taken on his complaint. Shiv Prakash Chaturvedi alleges that he was also humiliated by SHO Sunil Kumar Singh and ASI Sunil Kumar Yadav of Rani Ki Sarai police station.Hurt by the incident, Shiv Prakash Chaturvedi, along with several senior journalists, submitted a petition to the Superintendent of Police today, pleading for justice, but received no assurance of satisfactory action. The journalists have warned that if the police continue with this attitude, they will meet higher officials and launch a protest.Shiv Prakash Chaturvedi has said that if action is not taken against Inspector Sunil Yadav within two days, he will be forced to take any step. He even said that if anything untoward happens, the entire responsibility will be of the concerned Inspector.
